17th - 20th May
Over a weekend from the 17th - 20th May more than thirty X-Yachts were gathered in Heiligenhafen in Germany to participate in the 3rd X-Yachts Ostsee Cup. The cup has now become an annual event which is held in turns in either Heiligenhafen or Glücksburg.

This year Oliver Leu from X-Yachts, Agentur Lübecker Bucht, had organised the cup with assistance from many volunteers. For two days both cruisers and racers were competing in the Hochwachter Bay and in the strait of Fehmarn to win the Ostsee Cup Trophy.

Spirit of the crews was high
The weather was sunny like in the Mediterranean on a summer day, and this race was one of the first in the 2002 season, therefore all the X-Yachts were polished and cleaned and the spirit of the crews was high. As the photos will show, the lack of wind made the field move slowly, but this did not discourage the sailors, neither during daytime nor in the evenings when the DJ turned on the music in the festivity hall.

Delicious food was served and the participants were entertained with a photo show from the sailing event of the day. Saturday was the last day of racing and the prize giving ceremony was the highlight of the evening.
