X-37 Family Horst's First Season on Board

The 9th July 2004
Finally, we could pick up our new X-37 at the yard in Haderslev. We had been looking forward to this day, and when we arrived she was lying in the marina blue and shining - our dreamboat named “Schexbier”. We couldn’t wait to get on board and begin our first sailing weekend. Our friends had accompanied us to Denmark to join us for the naming ceremony and a celebration drink; they looked longingly after us as we motored out of the marina to test her sailing qualities on the maiden voyage; we were delighted.
Since then we have spent every weekend cruising on board our X-37. We have sailed in all weathers, and even the strong gales we enjoyed, having great fun surfing down the big waves.

Our first race
For the first time in our sailing career we participated in a race, the X-Yachts Baltic Cup 2004 in Kiel. Together with another couple, we registered “Schexbier” for participation in the Family Class. It turned out to be quite exhausting keeping up with the fleet on the race course, but a nice dinner was waiting ahead and we had a fantastic experience being a part of the big X-Family for three days.

The spacious interior was one of the things that appealed to us when buying the X-37. We found it very comfortable and cosy below deck, even when the rain was pelting down, we loved to stay in the saloon relaxing, reading and cooking a nice meal.

This season has offered us many wonderful cruising trips in the waters around Denmark and the Baltic Sea. We still have to practice our motoring maneuvers in stormy weather though, but their will be plenty of time for this training in the coming season; which we are longing for already.
